The essence of Asangoham

Yesterday, i gave my first ever talk. It was a dialogue with Matt Segall, my friend and colleague, entitled Shelling and Sankara's non dual visions. I very much enjoyed it, and there was much fruitful dialogue between us and with the attendees. Thanks to Matt and Becca for that!

Over the coming weeks i will be posting a series of short (ish) essay-posts on Advaita Vedanta, consisting of elaborated and refined sections from the temporary post put up for that talk. I hope to get more exact (and less terse!) with the Vedantic vision as i understand it, and, perhaps later down the line, view this through different lenses. This is my intention with the blog, but i am not sure of its direction past this immediate task. It will, however, inevitably be centered around the Vedantic understanding whatever form it takes.

I encourage and hope that people will comment on what i am writing so that dialogues might blossom. I particularly encourage people to communicate their issues/confusions/concerns with Advaita, as i take it to be a great practice to try to illuminate it's subtleties, insofar as i am capable of course. If you do not wish to publicly comment please email me at jamesbarnes52@googlemail.com.

Thanks!
